May 4th: Here are those pictures I said I would get. Again, nothing very different, but a few little things. (P.S. Sorry the pics are so bad. I took them in the evening and the light was absolutely terrible. I did the best I could in editting).
The nursery. Messy change table. I still have to clear that off.
Owls in the tree branch. Not the best picture. I wish I could do it justice. They are so cute.
Crib wall. Note that the wall boxes are up... unfortunately there is nothing in them.
Closet. A bunch of gifts for baby so far.
So, just waiting on the prints from Etsy and for the little one to be born so that we can finally hang up his name without anyone accidently getting a sneak peek at it.
May 2nd: Woohoo! Good day :D. The Etsy prints that I wanted so badly, went back down to $18. Not the $16 they were originally, but better than $25! We ordered them this afternoon. It was still hard to spend that much money and I felt pretty guilty because I know that there are much better things that it could go towards, but I'm glad Erik finally forced me to do it. The nursery really needs some kind of personal touch, something fun that gives it a bit of character. Right now it is functional and it looks fine, but it was missing something. I think that these prints will add that final touch I was looking for.
Unfortunately, they will take about two weeks to get here, so they won't be up until after the little guy arrives. That's what I get for putting it off so long. Oh well. I'm just so happy and relieved they are ordered and will soon be on their way.
The progress doesn't end there. We moved the high chair out of the nursery as it was just kind of sitting there for storage. It is now in the kitchen. The branch that we were going to use to hang over the crib is now in the nursery instead. It is propped against a wall in the corner with the owl I made perched on it. I think it looks super cute that way and I've decided to leave it there. Erik hung the wall boxes today, too! Even though they are empty at the moment, they look really good. I don't know what I am going to put in them. I will find something, I'm sure. Again, I am just glad and relieved that this stuff is done. A few less things I have to worry about getting done before the little one arrives.
I don't have pictures to post this moment, but I will try to take some tomorrow. There isn't much to see as the prints are not here or hung and the wall boxes are empty. But I will take a picture of the branch and owl and hopefully get it posted tomorrow. :)
April 17th: Well, I don't think I will be getting the prints I wanted from Etsy. The shop increased its prices again. The prints are now $25 each. I really can't justify spending that much. I think I will just have to figure something else out.
This nursery is becoming more and more of a disappointment. :(
April 8th: It's not really the nursery, but it is baby-prep. Erik installed the car seat this afternoon. That alone makes it all seem so much closer and so much more real. Yet, it's still hard to believe that in just about a month (hopefully less), we will be bringing home a little baby in that car seat. Wow! Every thing we get done for the baby makes it both more real and more surreal at the same time...
As for the actual nursery, well, things aren't going so great there. Not too much has happened since the last time I updated. I think the only thing that kind of changed is that we bought a crib toy which is now set up. Other than that, we are no closer to being done. We still have not ordered the things that I wanted to get off Etsy and to be honest, I don't think they will ever get ordered. I just feel too guilty spending the money... :(
There are still no curtains and no carpet either. This is mostly because I can't find exactly what I want. I'm not even sure what exactly I want, but I know that what I am seeing so far is not what I want. I wish I could make my own but I haven't even looked at my sewing machine, let alone learnt how to use it and make curtains. Also, I think we just don't want to put in the effort to install the curtain rod to hang curtains up. I don't know why, but we just haven't gotten around to it. I'm not even sure if it will fit over the blinds...
Anyway, I'm a little bit disappointed by the lack of progress in the nursery. I would like to see us get at least a little bit more done before he arrives. Considering that I will be full-term on Friday and baby can come at almost any time, it doesn't look like we have too much time to work with. If we are going to do any more it needs to get done ASAP.
March 15th: Went shopping today and bought the last of the essentials (crib mattress pads, change pad cover, head support for the carseat, bottle accessories, etc). We now have pretty much everything we need for baby. Of course, there are still a lot more things to get, but I guess they can be considered non-essentials (toys, decor, and such). Here are the pictures of the mobile we also picked up. It's a simple one from Wal-Mart but it is the only one I've seen so far that I remotely like, so we got.
There is an owl, a snail, a crocodile and an elephant. It plays a lullaby. It's simple and basic, but it will do considering I wasn't even going to get a mobile for the crib.
March 9th: Did some more organizing. Put away all of the clothes and got rid of all of the extra clutter. The nursery is really starting to look good. I still wish I had some more decor, but for what is there it's not too shabby. Here are some pics of the whole nursery.
From the door.
The crib. (Finally got a sheet on there)
Dresser. All of his newborn and 0-3 month clothes are put away.

March 7th: Organized a little bit in the nursery. We got some storage boxes for the shelf in the closet and I took a moment this morning (while I wasn't feeling too tired) to put away all of the bathtime, feeding, and diaper stuff. Despite this organization, it doesn't look like I did all that much at all. One corner of the nursery is still stacked with boxes of baby clothes and things that Mum brought us. I think I am going to need to do another load or two of baby laundry to get it all out of the way.
Oh, I decided not to buy a separate chair for the nursery as I could not find anything comfortable, cheap, and small enough to fit in the room. I figured the glider was as good as anything I was finding so I dragged it in to the nursery this morning and stuck it in a corner. It doesn't look perfect and makes the room look a bit crowded, but it's functional. It will do, although it needs a colourful pillow or something... Also, it smells like smoke (even after a good wash and multiple attacks with the Febreze). Going to try vinegar and hope that works (and doesn't make it smell like vinegar instead...).
The glider. Only place it would fit, but it's not too bad because it is within arms reach of the bibs, receiving blankets, etc.
The rest of the stuff, all shoved in to the doorway to make room for the glider.
February 28th: For some reason the previous pictures and update were deleted. I have no idea why this happened. Unfortunately, I do not have the pictures available on this computer to be able to put them back up. Anyway, an update on the nursery progress (or lack thereof). Since my last update (the deleted one), we haven't done much more than buy the mattress and change table pad. It seems that things with the nursery are on hold for a while until I can afford to get the stuff I still want to add. There isn't too much. Mostly room decor. I want to get a few shadow boxes to put on the wall. I was hoping to paint those gray and blue, but I don't know if I will get around to that. Also, I found these adorable prints on Etsy that I have been dying to buy since I found out I was pregnant. There are four of them (well, there are a lot more than that, but four particular ones that go together). I feel bad buying all four as they are $20 each, so I might have to settle for just two. There is also a mobile I have been eyeing on Etsy that I want to hang in the corner of the room by the window.
The prints I am in love with. Don't know how I will choose between them. :(
The leaf mobile, a pic taken from the bottom looking up.
January 31st: Painting is finished! (For the most part...) And what a mess has been made! I will have fun cleaning this up this week. Next up is the furniture. Can't wait!
