Tristan Robert McFarlane: Due May 4, 2012. Born May 12, 2012, 4:22 AM. 8 lbs, 1 oz. 20.5 inches long. This little man is my world. I can't believe how much I am in love with him. I feel so much more fulfilled and accomplished now that he is here and I am a mother. Tristan is such a good baby, too. I mean, he is pretty amazing and we are incredibly lucky to have such a great baby the first time around. He eats well (REALLY well) and sleeps well (about once every 4-5 hours during the night). He only gets really upset when he is very hungry or has a wet diaper (he absolutely hates peeing almost as much as he hates baths!). I just cannot wait to watch him grow and learn more about him!

(During my pregnancy - original bio): This boy is incredibly active. He is constantly kicking and punching and wiggling around in there. I have a feeling he is going to be quite the handful after he is born! He appears to be perfectly healthy and right on schedule for weight and length, which gives me hope that he will not be a ten pound baby... Can't wait to meet our little man!

An update on Baby McFarlane... Measuring two weeks ahead... I might be having that ten pound baby after all! Still as active as ever, though. He likes to wedge himself in to very uncomfortable positions for me. His punches/kicks to my ribs are very frequent and often painful. He's lucky I love him.

Another update. As of March 28th, the little guy was measuring in at approximately 5lbs, 9oz (give or take a pound). Not too big and not too small, according to the doctor. He is still incredibly active, despite that he must be incredibly cramped by now.

The Fur-Babies: Connery (yes, after Sean Connery) with us since summer 2010 and Leia (Princess Leia from Star Wars) with me since December 2004. The first picture is my Bubby (Leia) and the second is Connery. These two are my first babies and I love them so much it hurts sometimes.

This beautiful girl is 7 years old. Leia has a mind of her own. She knows exactly what she wants and she will tell you when she wants it and she doesn't give up until you give it to her or do what she wants. She is incredibly smart and obedient... when she wants to be... She decides when she is going to sit or lie down or come. But she knows what they mean and is quick to respond when she so desires. I think she can be a bit of a snob sometimes. You can just imagine her looking down her nose at Connery when he is acting up, or rolling her eyes at you.

Leia is the classic, hardy Sheltie, bred for the harsh rains and winds of the Shetland Islands. She loves the snow. She is my little snow baby. The first thing she does when we put her outside is stick her face in a fresh pile of snow. In the spring she desperately searches for those last piles of snow to do her business on and refuses to go anywhere near the grass.

She is all dense fur and sturdy build, so she looks a lot chubbier than she really is.

Connery... Oh Connery. This pup never fails to make me smile... or drive me crazy. Connery will turn two at the end of May. He is incredibly smart, but at the same time he can seem a little clueless. I think it is all the energy, he is just so busy that he doesn't have time to think about what is going on. he has a habit of running in to screen doors and running at insane speeds around, under, over, and through the furniture. He is an incredibly good listener, but he has a short attention span and forgets what he is supposed to be doing unless you keep his attention. Connery's favourite activity is tormenting Leia. He always seems to be that happy-go-lucky puppy and it is really obvious when he is not feeling well or just kind of out of sorts, because it is such a dramatic change from his usually hyper self.

He has the stinkiest breath I have ever smelled and always smells like salty tortilla chips... weird. He has a random white spot on the back of his right ear and white eyelashes on his right eye. He always has to check to make sure his boy parts are still there when he gets excited or pees. He has absolutely no boundaries and is always right up in your face. In the morning he will literally sit on my chest and stare down at me until I wake up. Sometimes he sleeps on Erik's pillow, curled around his head. He is also paranoid and is on high alert at every little sound.

It will be interesting to see how this pup reacts when the baby gets here.

(by the way, how can you not love that face?)

I love my little family and I can't wait to see it grow even more in the future. (I'm hoping for at least three more kids.)
