Big Baby?

What has chubby cheeks, a big head, and an adorable nose?

... This little guy!!!

Isn't he a cutie? :)

My growth ultrasound on Wednesday went fantastic! At least, as far as I could tell... I don't get the results until my next appointment with Dr. Yacoub on Tuesday, but baby boy looked pretty big to me and Erik, and even the ultrasound tech commented on his big head. I am anxious to hear what the official estimate is. According to my books he should be about 4.5 lbs to 5 lbs, but I kind of have a feeling he is a little bit bigger than that.

I had a really great ultrasound technician this time. I've never had a bad one, but this one just kind of stood out and she seemed really nice. She did warn me that she probably wouldn't be able to get any good pictures of the little guy, simply because at this point everything is a bit squished up, but she was able to get some really good ones and even gave them to us at no cost. Shhh...

This one is of our boy playing with his little toes! The picture really doesn't do it justice. This was the cutest thing to watch and I honestly could have watched for hours. He was very active during the ultrasound and at some points didn't want to cooperate at all. He moved every time the tech tried to take his heart rate. It was great to see him moving around in there, though. I get to see him moving around all the time, contorting my belly in all kinds of weird ways, but it is a whole different thing to actually see him and see what he is really doing in there. I loved watching him move his arms, kick out his legs, play with his toes and suckle and smack his lips. And I cannot wait to be able to see him do all of those things in person!

After we got home from the ultrasound, I spent some time just looking at the pictures and trying to decide if I could see any recognizable resemblances. It's hard to tell, especially on a 2D ultrasound. And even though I did think I saw a few things that might resemble one person or another, I think I am just going to have to wait until he is born to know for sure. :)

Oh, and Erik said that he has a big nose. He totally doesn't. I think he has a very adorable, normal-sized nose.
